Post Consumer Brands is home to many family-favorite cereal brands like PEBBLES™ cereal, Grape-Nuts® cereal, Waffle Crisp® cereal, and more. As the third-largest cereal company in the United States, we understand our critical role in helping protect the environment through sustainability initiatives – from our manufacturing and transportation processes to helping reduce landfill waste by continually improving our cereal packaging.
Post® makes breakfast cereal packaging in a variety of sizes and shapes to meet every cereal lover’s needs – boxes, Malt-O-Meal‘s® iconic resealable cereal bags and bowls. The most exciting part of our cereal cardboard box packaging is that it’s 100% recyclable!
Watch the video below to see Post’s cereal packaging process in action:
What is Post’s cereal packaging made of?
Cereal Boxes: Post’s cereal boxes are made from recycled paper materials. In fact, we cut back on paper packaging material use by 930,000 pounds in 2020 and are continuing to work through innovative, eco-friendly ways to give you the same great quality packaging on which you’ve always relied.
Cereal Bags: Bagged cereals use less materials than boxes. We are continually reducing the amount of plastic film in the plastic bags inside of our cereal boxes each year, which has cut our plastic use by more than 1 million pounds.
Overall, we have cut all packaging material use by almost 2 million pounds. And our progress doesn’t stop there! We are continually working to reduce our environmental footprint through 2022 and beyond.
What can you do to help make the cereal industry more sustainable?
To help do your part in taking care of our planet, the easiest thing you can do is recycle our cereal boxes. Make sure to look up any local rules or regulations your recycling program may have in place.
Another out-of-the-box way you can make a positive impact on the environment as a cereal fan is to reuse our cereal boxes for your next crafting day or DIY project. We have a variety of fun kids crafts made with PEBBLES™ cereal on our website and always encourage fans to show off their creations by tagging us @post_cereals in your Instagram photos!
