As Post Consumer Brands expands, we’re making changes to our network to maximize efficiency and increase capacity. This month, in an effort to drive growth and volume, we’re opening a new facility in Fairburn, Ga., just outside of Atlanta.
The Fairburn distribution center (DC) is creating 58 jobs in the local community and will be managed in partnership with GEODIS, a third-party logistics company. At more than 700,000 square feet, the Fairburn DC is a sizable addition to our network.
Rerouting shipments to the Fairburn DC will further optimize our distribution network by removing more than two million miles annually from our network. That’s equal to more than 700 trips from Los Angeles to New York. Less miles also means less impact on the environment.
“This expansion will allow us to better serve our customers in the Southeastern United States,” said Adrienne Beckett, vice president of supply chain operations at Post Consumer Brands, “The change is integral to our supply chain optimization goals and will help us better get product to retailers, all while reducing miles traveled on the road.”
The DC began taking product on September 23 and the first shipments to retailers will start on November 1.
Optimized and rerouted shipments to the Fairburn distribution center will remove two million miles from our distribution network.
